1. What
Colour Is The Wind?
A friends niece asked him this once. She’s
blind and she seriously wanted to know. A slow haunting introduction with
the acoustic guitar chanting behind the voice as it builds up, dies back
and starts again paving the way for the electric lead. The last passage
sees different voices interspersed with sparse lead phrases and the sax
being introduced. It ends with the sax and lead guitar battling for
supremacy which neither wins, and so it fades.
2. Heart’s
on Fire.
An acoustic based number, quite upbeat in tempo
with a background riff that signals in the chorus. What’s it about?
Well, someone can feel something inside but doesn’t know why or what and
describes it as the chorus states. Heart’s on fire. A little falsetto
near the end. Where did that come from?
3. Long
Way Home.
Bad times mean it is always a long way home no
matter how near you are to where you want to get to either physically or
mentally. A distorted electric guitar, bass and drums drive this along
4. When
the Levee Breaks.
Another heavy riffed rock song. Just written for
the pure pleasure of doing it. I wanted to write this kind of song so did.
5. Look
Away.
Purely an acoustic fingerstyle number with
a heavy bass line and a lazy voice. A song I wrote long ago with a hazy
recollection of what it was about. Just a mood with some words to express
that mood.
6. Love
on the Mend.
Little different this. Brass and strings help it
along with an acoustic backing and some electric assistance. The vacuum
that is left after a relationship withers and dies creates a wandering
feeling. I guess that is where this came from.
7. Lookin'
Out For You.
Written with some friends in mind. (smokin') A
fast bass pounds along with a manic guitar and a dual vocal line, one
normal and the other not,or is it?
8. Wonder
of You.
A celebration of a being with a woman. Acoustic
12 string jangles behind the words and ends with harmonies galore. You can
slow dance to this.
9. Who
Are You Gonna Send Me?
Acoustic based with some drive. The vocals
separate on the chorus in a way I like. It just sort of happened that way
in the studio. Interesting talk style lead guitar. The song is about fate.
What does it have in store for me?
10. Beautiful
Woman.
The words speak for themselves I think. A late
addition to the cd and a fingerstyle acoustic based number.
11. Sigh
in your Eye.
Piano intro, with powerful guitar and synthesiser
working us up to the verse. Simple in it’s construction, powerful and
made to be played loud. A heavy riff driven song, with thunderous bass.
Inspired by a sadness in someone that prompted me to say the title and it
developed from there.
12. Lullaby.
A short little lullaby which says I love you.
Touched
is
coming.............soon.
